Okay, I'm bored so I it would be fun to rehash some of the big mistakes that many amateur bodybuilders make. That being said, here goes...
Mistake: Juicing before you've been seriously training for at least a few years - In the haste to get big as quickly as possible, some bodybuilders rush to use steroids before they even need to juice. But what these people are missing is that roids are meant to push you past your peak - not used as a shortcut to attaining a great physique. In short, make sure that you've been seriously training for a while before you start using steroids.
Mistake: Centering your entire life on bodybuilding - As someone who loves bodybuilding, I'm all for the diehard athletes who have Mr. Olympia dreams. This being said, only one person can be Mr. Olympia each year, and only a handful of people can win the major competitions in each weight class. So while it's important to strive to be your best, don't make every single breathing moment about bodybuilding. Going further, you might even be surprised as to what taking a mental breather once and a while can do for your training results.
Mistake: Ignoring tools that can help you improve - There are a lot of extra resources you can use to improve your physique and training techniques, including forums, bodybuilding ebooks, magazines, etc. With all of this at your disposal, it only makes sense to take advantage of advice that can further your bodybuilding game.
Mistake: Overtraining/undertraining - Okay, I know that I'm getting a little cookie-cutter here, but the fact remains that too many athletes either overtrain or undertrain. In any case, you know your body better than anybody, so it's important to be honest with yourself. If you aren't pushing those last couple of reps out each session, don't expect to be an elite competitor on stage; if you obsessively hit the gym when you're still sore, you are only setting yourself back.
