One of the hardest things to do in bodybuilding is add mass while eating clean. After all, it's pretty tough to put on lots of muscle when you can't eat everything in sight. However, I do have a few tricks for adding mass while eating clean and here they are.
Keep Track of your Progress
The first rule to adding muscle while eating clean is to track your progress. Yeah I know this is pretty generic, but it's also something that many bodybuilders miss out on, leaving them fat and bloated during a bulking phase. So make sure to document everything you're doing to see what you've done right and wrong.
Eat Just Enough to Gain Weight
Some people overcompensate when they're bulking up by eating way too much and putting on more fat than muscle. This is why you need to eat just enough to grow 0.5-1 pound every week rather than trying to grow three pounds a week.
Do your Cardio
Eating clean isn't enough to keep the fat off when bulking; you also have to do some cardio. In fact, you should be doing at least three sessions of 20 minutes a week....probably more.
Eat 1-2 Grams of Protein per Pound
If you weigh 200 pounds and want to bulk up to 210, you need to be eating at least 200 grams of protein. Actually, it would be even better for you to eat around 200 grams of protein at this weight to ensure that you're getting everything you need.
