It has been much publicized over the years that recombinant growth hormone (man-made growth hormone) can have a definite impact on increasing bulk and strength within people, and for good reason too. Studies have shown that growth hormone, which is also commonly called by its pharmaceutical name somatropin, helps pack muscle on its users when taken on a consistent basis. Growth hormone has also been proven to produce fat loss results, making it a favorite of bodybuilders for decades. But muscle enhancement and fat loss benefits aren’t the only things that growth hormone been known to provide.

Growth hormone can also have multiple side effects as well, especially during the early stages of use. Some of them include headaches, nausea, sleep loss, vomiting, allergic reactions, mild visual disturbances, and even shortness of breath. However, the side effects vary depending on the individual and dosage amount used.
It is for this reason that many people who regularly take somatropin believe that the benefits far outweigh the negatives. If you’ve never used somatropin before, you may have pondered what it could do for you. With that thought, you may have also wondered if there are different delivery methods for the certain brands of somatropin, especially if you hate needles! The intended uses among the different brands can be confusing as well. So below, I’ve provided some different brands of somatropin, their primary uses, and their delivery methods.
Different similar brands of somatropin: Serostim, Genotropin, Saizen, Nutropin, Protropin, and Norditropin.
Serostim: Uses; The brand of somatropin known as Serostim is primarily used to prevent muscle wasting in AIDS patients. Some of the people on Serostim often complain of joint stiffness and muscle pain associated with the drug.
The muscle wasting prevention benefits for AIDS patients can quickly turn into a muscle builder for an average person. Some bodybuilders swear by Serostim and have used it to pack on lots of muscle. However, it must be noted that aside from muscle pain and joint stiffness, Serostim can be hazardous to long-term health as it can cause heart problems that may be irreversible.
Delivery Methods; Needle Injections are a common delivery method for Serostim. The injection is to be given under the skin. The bottle in which the Serostim is contained is swirled in order to mix the solution. The solution can not be shake though as this turns somatropin into a cloudy, unusable form.
Spring-powered devices can also be used to inject a patient with Serostim. Using a product such as this is very beneficial when dealing with AIDS patients as it provides improved safety for those not infected with HIV who are delivering shots.
Genotropin: Uses; The Genotropin brand is commonly used to treat pathologically short children, reduced growth in girls attributed to Turner Syndrome, and children with Prader-Willi syndrome. Genotropin can also help build muscle as well as burn fat at the same time, making it yet another favorite of bodybuilders.
Delivery Methods; Genotropin is administered through a needle injection under the skin. People who deliver Genotropin through needle injection should be careful to switch the injection sites every day so as to prevent skin fat wasting (the same goes for any other brand of somatropin as well).
Another device used to deliver Genotropin is the needle-less syringe (which actually contains 30 “pinprick” needles that are virtually unnoticeable). They are designed to be less scary and more user-friendly than regular needles.
Saizen: Uses; Treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children and adults is a common use for Saizen. People who suffer from chronic renal failure and Turner’s syndrome are also typical users of Saizen.
Delivery Methods; Saizen is interesting because not only can it be delivered by needle injection under the skin, but through intramuscularly injection (into the muscle) as well.
Another delivery method of Saizen injection is through a spring-powered device much like the one used for Serostim. Spring-powered injections are a favorite among the common pediatric patients who dislike needles.
Nutropin: Uses; Nutropin is another brand of somatropin used to treat patients with chronic renal failure and Turner’s syndrome. It serves as a long-term treatment for children with growth hormone deficiency as well.
Delivery Methods; Aside from normal needle injection under the skin, Nutropin can also be administered with the use of the Nutropin AQ Pen. The Nutropin AQ pen comes with a liquid form of somatropin that needs no mixing and is ready for immediate injection. Up until earlier this year, there was a version of Nutropin called Nutropin Depot that was long lasting. Nutropin Depot was highly popular among bodybuilders as it was very powerful and only required a single monthly injection as opposed to daily injections required by all other forms of somatropin. Unfortunately, this version of Nutropin is no longer being produced due to its high cost, so any versions found on the black-market today are almost assuredly counterfeit.
Protropin: Uses; The only prescribed use for Protropin is for long-term treatment of children who have experienced a lack of growth due to inadequate endogenous growth hormone secretion.
Delivery Methods; Protropin must be prepared before use. In order to do this, one must inject Bacteriostatic Water for Injection into a protropin vial. The contents must be swirled, not shaken because this can make the solution unusable. Sterile, disposable syringes are preferred when injecting Protropin under the skin.
Norditropin: Uses; Treating chronic kidney disease is a use of Norditropin along with the fact that it is yet another brand of somatropin that helps children who are afflicted with growth hormone deficiency and Turner’s syndrome grow.
Delivery Methods; Norditropin used to be available in a freeze dried/powder form but it was discontinued as Norditropin switched to the more popular “pen form” utilized by some of the other somatropin brands.
The Norditropin NordiFlex is a popular delivery pen that hides the injection needles, much like the Genotropin needle-less syringe. There is no need to mix the contents in the pen, as they are already mixed, and the desired dosage can be “dialed” by using the dose selector.
If you are serious about using somatropin for bodybuilding purposes, make sure you are well informed about its potential long-term risks. If you already suffer from heart-related problems, then it is probably best that you search for another type of muscle builder.
It is also important to acknowledge that real growth hormone cannot simply be attained by going to the protein supplement store around the corner. To get some, you’ll need a lot of money and a doctor’s prescription. Interestingly, somatropin is not controlled like anabolic steroids and there are many anti-ageing doctors and clinics eager to dispense it for a hefty fee. Selling fake somatropin to bodybuilders has become quite a popular scam in recent years. Remember, all growth hormone is injected, and it is rarely ever cheap so a good tip off to a fraudulent company could be them offering somatropin for a fraction of its worth or something that is taken orally or nasally. Just remember the old saying; if it’s too good to be true, then it’s probably a scam.
