Today, EliteFitness.com had a chat with Cody Laurent, a.k.a. wcjcMr.O on the EF bodybuilding forums. Cody is a Fitness Challenge Bodybuilding Competition finalist, Platinum Member, and new friend of mine. What is so remarkable about Cody is that during the 90 day Fitness Challenge, Cody not only gained significantly more muscle mass, but he also lost body fat and got much more defined. And we all know how hard it is to get bigger and more defined at the same time.
Here's how Cody looked on Miami Beach the day of our photoshoot (with lots more pics below):
And here's what he looked like when the contest started.
We interviewed Cody after the contest weekend in Miami Beach and we have the interview and a selection of his after pics below.
EliteFitness.com: So, I know voting hasn't started yet, but how does it feel to be one of the two finalists in the first ever George Spellwin's Fitness Challenge Bodybuilding Competition?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: It feels great. To know that all my hard work paid off in not only improving my physique, but representing EF is a GREAT feeling.
EliteFitness.com: How do you like Miami Beach?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: LOL How do I like Miami Beach??? lol Ask a dog how much he loves to chase cats!!! Miami is incredible, super hot even at night, but its so beautiful I didn't want to leave. Kinda depressed I had to. lol
EliteFitness.com: How did you like the Mondrian Hotel in Miami Beach where we put you up?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: The Mondrian was great. The staff was extremely professional. The pool and the scenery at night by the pool, WOOOOH nice baby. lol Ya the view from the room was awesome. Took some pics of that for sure. Very nice place to stay.
EliteFitness.com: You and Peterlumberjack shared an amazing suite at the luxurious Mondrian Hotel in Miami Beach. What was it like living with him for the weekend?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: That dude is annoying. LOL No seriously, not in the least. Pete is actually a very intelligent guy and it doesn't take long to talk to him to realize this. I think it actually may have made the final days of dieting and water depletion a little easier. Knowing someone else is going through the same sort of deal is always nice. lol
EliteFitness.com: So you got along?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Ya for sure. Pete is definitely someone I can converse with and relate to. We actually both have the same education background. Although Pete's was more in depth I'm sure. We pretty much did everything together. Bought our food, ate our meals, walked around Miami and even celebrated a hair post photoshoot.
EliteFitness.com: Do you think you will keep in touch?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: I hope so. Like I said, Pete's a smart guy and he knows quite a lot about nutrition and training. I hope to stay in touch if not only to help each other in any way we can reach our fitness goals. But I actually consider him a friend now. lol Lets Hug. LOL
EliteFitness.com: Had you ever done a photoshoot before?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: No this was my first one. Great experience. Jaqueline didn't hurt the situation that's for sure.
EliteFitness.com: What did you think of all the prep work, shaving, trying on clothes, practicing posing, spray tanning?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Its all part of the game. Not my favorite part, but it has to be done if you want to bring your best. And that's exactly what I was trying to do for EF and its members. Represent and show the best physique I could with the time given.
EliteFitness.com: Had you ever worn posing trunks before?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: No, and not looking forward to it again. lol Not as bad as I thought it would be though. And it's hard not to feel confident with such a strong support group surrounding you. I knew it was all part of the deal. But like I said, Not looking forward to it again. Unless I can build some wheels like Palumbo lol Than I will gladly wear my posing trunks to buy my milk. lol
EliteFitness.com: What did you think of the shoot itself? How was the location?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: The location was great. Right by the water.
EliteFitness.com: How did you like the photographer Jim Maxwell?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: He was very professional and made me feel comfortable.
EliteFitness.com: What was it like working with Jacqueline Suzanne?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: It was great. She was very professional and down to earth. Very cool person.
EliteFitness.com: Was it intimidating working with her?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: No not really. Maybe slightly simply for the fact that she has established herself as a well known model. But like I said she was down to earth and easy to talk to.
EliteFitness.com: All in all, how would you summarize your first photoshoot experience?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Easier than I expected. Nothin to be scared of.
EliteFitness.com: What was it like getting to meet George?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: It was awesome. Slightly surreal. I mean he's the architect!!!
EliteFitness.com: And what was it like drinking champagne after the shoot with George, Rick, and Jacqueline?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Surreal again. lol It was fun for sure. I got to learn a lot and am very grateful.
EliteFitness.com: What about dinner that night at Texas de Brazil? Were you hungry after dieting for so long?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: O ya I was SOOOO hungry, even more thirsty. Honestly, It was probably THE BEST DINNER I HAVE EVER HAD. Every kind of meat you could think of would just get rushed to your plate. It was amazing.
EliteFitness.com: Was the food really that good?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Was the food good? lol Like I said, probably the best dinner I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked with delicious seasonings. Cuts of meat I have never heard of nor tasted. Ya, I would say it was good. And the service was amazing as well. Very professional and enthusiastic to serve you. Will definitely be going again if I go to Miami.
EliteFitness.com: Were you sad when it was all over and you had to leave to go home?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Yes, and I'm still sad. Although its a very expensive place, I see myself going back to visit if not move there permanently in the future. Oregon is depressing in comparison.
EliteFitness.com: What did you think the experience was going to be like and how did it compare in reality?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: The reality far surpassed my expectations. I figured we would pretty much be completely on our own except for the photoshoot day. Quite on the contrary, George and BRR were there to hang out, answer questions and really just show us a good time.
EliteFitness.com: You know, even if you place second, and do not get the top prize of $3500, you still win $2000 that has to feel good. Right?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Yes, the money is nice for sure. However, for myself, second place is never as sweet as the GOLD. Money or not.
EliteFitness.com: Where do you hope this experience takes you?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Hopefully I can get some more modeling work. Other than that I just want this to motivate our members and also motivate myself to take my physique to the next level.
EliteFitness.com: Will you come back next year and help us with next year's finalists?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: Yes definitely, I'm lookin forward to it.
EliteFitness.com: Any final thoughts?
Fitness Challenge Finalist Cody: I would just like to take this part of the interview to thank GS and Big Rick Rock for showing me a great time in Miami. It was very relaxed and everything from the Hotel room to the dinner surpassed my expectations. I couldn't have asked for more. It was a sad day to leave, but I went home with some money in my pocket and a few friends made. Everything GS and BRR said would happen, did, if not more. So take these guys words seriously. Thanks for a great time in South Beach guys.
