no, sorry. I didn't take a picture in
short shorts.
My name is Jason Gillis, I am 20 years old. I am from Wisconsin Rapids,
WI. born and raised.
I first found elitefitness.com in the spring sometime...march or
april maybe.
I am not on the forums at the time.
My future plans include but are not limited too, getting into the
best shape of my life. It has been a progressive onslaught of achievments
and acomplishments for about the last 7 years, with the last 2 bringing
real progress. With the applications of knowledge and dedication,
I plan to make each year better than the last.
I train very irregularly. In a good way. I listen to my body, and
adjust volume, intensity, and rest periods of training.(weights,
strong man, body weight calethenics, cardio). I train with the concept
that I have other things to do, and being in shape is something that
makes everything else better. I try to make each time I workout different
in some way, while trying to do "something" everyday. For
cardio, I have taken up mountain biking, running, jump rope, boxing,
karate... the list goes on. for strength, I tend to alternate between
lifting and bodyweight calesthenics I throw strongman in their for
good measure. I might lift with weights steadily for a few weeks,
followed by 2 weeks of strict body weight exercises. currently, I
do both, supplementing one with the other. throughout my cutting
phase with the pictures, I weight trained very little - maybe 7 times
in 2 months.I believe in functional strength over shaping, while
keeping ones bodyweight (fat inparticular) low.
I like the idea of running and jump rope, and body weight exercises,
becuase they require little to no equipment, and can be done with
much effectiveness without having to get to a gym. If anyone question's
their effectiveness, my leg press increased 90 lbs in one month,
after starting to do hindu squats every day ( a variation of the
one-legged squat), and not even having a designated "leg day" in
the weight room during that time.
in the pictures, my body fat was right about 10%. after a bulking
phase for a strong man compettion I am hovering around 11-12%.
right now, I don't plan on competing in bodybuilding. maybe within
the next 10 years I'll consider it, though.
unlike my training, my diet is pretty straight forward. eat clean,
like a caveman, avoiding anything processed. 1-1.5g protein per pound
lean body mass. 5-6 small meals a day. lean protein, complex starchy
natural carb, and a vegetable or fruit (morning meals) in each meal.
my breakdown of macronutrient ratio is pretty close to 45-40-15 of
carb- protein -fat, and i try and keep it in that area.
On that same note, I don't have a designated 'cheat day'. if I am
at a relatives house who baked cookies, I won't turn it down becuase
i cant eat them until sunday...but, I don't use that as an excuse
to eat what I want, and portion control is still important. flexibility
is key.
I dont have scheduled cycles. If I feel like improving on an area,
I do so. but, my cycles that exist are bulking, cutting, maintainence
(life is busy, dont have time or patience to concentrate on a specific
goal, and am just trying to not lose anything). and performance focus
(strength/endurance/speed).
in terms of progress since ive joined elite fitness, I have lost
30lbs of fat, and dashed my mile time, as well as increase my endurance
to where I dont even think twice about going for a 4-8 mile run.
my supplementation isn't too extensive. protein shakes, glutamine,
creatine, mutli-vitamin, dextrose/maltodextrin, antioxidants are
standard. caffeine, no2, 7-keto, and mass gainer work their way into
my program periodicaly, depending on my goals or $ situation.
I have been a student trying to find a field of study to settle on.
I started in aviation, worked into nutritional science, and have
now decided to join the Air Force. I am just waiting to leave, sometime
after jan.1st. in the mean time, I work and work out, practice archery,
biking, golf, hunting and fishing. come night fall I usually kick
it with bud's/ladies. |
